Upcoming new ebook: ‘But a Walking Shadow’

“But a Walking Shadow” is the new black comedy-fantasy short story ebook that I will publish in multiple chapters for beta reading on Tablo Publishing. Tablo Publishing is a social media site for writers where they share their work and read other authors’ projects in progress.

The following is a summary of the ebook:

A selfish, obnoxious man who claims to have become enlightened and therefore seeks “the meaning of life” gets more than he bargains for when he encounters a woman from his past.

And here’s the ebook’s introduction:

In early 2015, an author friend emailed me and other writer friends proposing an idea for a horror-comedy anthology. It would have contained short stories surrounding a protagonist so selfish, so obnoxious, and so grating that he gets his inevitable comeuppance at the end of one story … only for him to endure another torturous demise in another entry … and yet a third in the next tale. All of these deaths are his punishments by a race of otherworldly, supernatural beings who make it their mission to teach humans a lesson (or two) while having some fun at their expense.

Although I wrote my contribution to the anthology, personal matters compelled my friend to later shelve the project. For how long, I’m not sure, but the mere idea of an anthology that gives authors the opportunity to unleash their imagined worst on their enemies through the protagonist was something I didn’t want to pass up.

I would like to thank my friend and our anthology collaborators. The time may come later for us to revisit it, but I’m glad to have their blessing in publishing my contribution.

As the weeks go by, I will publish a new chapter of “But a Walking Shadow” on Tablo for beta reading. In time, I will upload the whole ebook on Amazon Kindle and Apple iBooks. During the beta reading period, feedback is always welcome.
